ANU Environmental Sciences Field Trip
Environmental Science students from Australian National University visited Mulloon Creek Natural Farms recently with Dr David Freudenberger (ANU) and Luke Peel (The Mulloon Institute).
They walked part of the Mulloon Creek and visited various paddocks while learning about Landscape Function Analysis and conducting an Ephemeral Drainage Line Assessment of the creek.
A visit to the soil pit looked at road cutting, land capability, soil chores and characterisation, while a side trip to learn about the brush pile restoration being conducted in the Mulloon Catchment allowed students to conduct ‘before restoration’ landscape function analysis and early ‘post treament’ LFA.
Overall, the students visited for three days, during which time they were also learning how to develop research questions and experimental design.
