Environmental Data Scientist
Harrison is an environmental scientist with experience in a range of government roles and land management contexts. He has a strong passion for geospatial science and the use of technology in monitoring complex environmental processes.
Harrison began his career conducting compliance monitoring of harvesting operations in the NSW pine plantation forestry industry. He then worked with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) within Parks Australia, Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder and Australian Antarctic Division’s. His most recent work in Parks Australia focused on the use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) for environmental monitoring, conducting field surveys in Ashmore Reef Marine Park, Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park and Kakadu National Park.
Harrison is passionate about data management, having contributed to the DCCEEW Remote Sensing Names Convention and a related data catalogue for the visualisation of imagery and 3D LiDAR data within Parks Australia. He is knowledgeable about cloud computing and geospatial data processing, including the implications these have for on-ground works.
Outside of work, Harrison enjoys hiking, splitboarding and making music.
