As pressure mounts on farming communities to comply with supply chain ESG* demands, decarbonisation and reversing biodiversity impacts, we've flipped the focus.
Could our productive inland river delta; a forested biodiversity hotspot, a massive carbon sink of hundreds of on-farm wetlands combined with as ophisticated gravity-fed irrigation system, be Australia's best location for environmental market investment? Could we command the highest premiums in the country?
There's only one way to find out.
WMLIG has brought together Western Murray farmers, Barapa Barapa representatives and experts in environmental markets, hydrology, archaeology, forestry and wetland restoration to co-design 'hydrated biolink' to maximise economic, social and natural returns.
Designing our own custom 'products' for carbon and biodiversity markets that complement food and fibre growing and thriving communities - not enrich the middle men - is the aim.
The key topics include:
An exciting opportunity to take advantage of and up to $10k per landowner grant for WMLIGmembers.
What our buyers' ESG (*environmental, social and governance) pressures could look like in the near future.
How we can co-design aggregated projects that give us a competitive advantage and drought income.
Why the only Australian farmer-owned environmental markets broker - The RegenFarmers Mutual - loves our region.
How landscape rehydration and restoration techniques increase profitability, resilience and productivity.
How ecological restoration meets multiple social benefits.
What Barapa Barapa knowledge and archaeology tells us about the unique environmental and social value of this region.
