Peter Hazell from The Mulloon Institute presented a two day workshop earlier this month up in the Fitzroy Basin, Queensland. Landholders from across the region gathered to learn how to restore their property's natural function and rehydrate both land and enterprise.

The program was presented by Roland Pease in May 2019 and looks into Australian farmers who are using ‘weeds’ to help conserve their land, particularly in areas hit by drought, where they are planting and encouraging wild plants which have been shown to retain moisture in the land.

Read MoreOn 15 April we were pleased to host a visit by Dr Helen Crowley, Head of Sustainable Sourcing Innovation for Kering, based in Paris. Land to Market leader, Tony Hill, along with participating farmers were taking Helen on a tour of regenerative agriculture in our district so dropped in for lunch and a chat with TMI and MCNF. While most of you probably don’t know Kering, you will certainly know a number of the fashion brands it owns, for instance Gucci! It is yet another “splendid” example of major corporates taking an interest and responsibility in how food and fibre is produced with sustainability and regeneration at the fore.
Read MoreDuring autumn we hosted three Mini Field Days and welcomed around 75 people to Mulloon Creek Natural Farms to learn about the work we do. The tours visited the Mulloon Creek rehabilitation area and Peter’s Pond and the step diffusion system where rehabilitation work is being conducted on sloping country. This was followed by a presentation from Research Coordinator Luke Peel followed by Q&A session. Thanks to all who could make it! Our next tours will run after winter so keep an eye out for dates.
